Serving our country during military service changed us.
As an American Veteran, one of the hardest parts of transitioning back into civilian life is maintaining friendships. All too often, your military friends are scattered across the country - and even world - meaning you rarely ever see them face-to-face.
Sometimes, as Veterans we can feel lonely living life in the civilian world, even if we are surrounded by local friends and family.
We often miss military camaraderie, having some sense of belonging and a mission specific purpose.
Most of us served overseas and were isolated for extended periods of time where life long bonds of looking out for one another were formed. After we get out, life is nothing like before.
Being a Veteran can be tough, which is why Veterans need support.
1) Join a military service organization, like the VFW Chester McKay.
2) Serve in your community as a volunteer with your post.
3) Reach out to fellow veterans.
VFW Chester McKay is dedicated to these three steps for all Veterans. Be proactive by joining us as we actively provide camaraderie, community service, and volunteering opportunities to help maintain bonds with fellow Veterans.
Imagine attending a VFW Sunday breakfast with your fellow Veterans and enjoying steak & eggs or pancakes at the canteen. You might be laughing as you compare service and deployment stories or discussing upcoming community service , Veteran outreach opportunities or planning a recreational activity.
Wouldn't it be nice to have the military camaraderie of friendships past?
Wouldn't it be nice to enjoy participating in community service, volunteer work, and outreach programs that support local Veterans and strengthen our community?
If you answered, YES and if this sounds like something you want to be a part of then download an application, complete it and drop it off at the post and check us out.
